Overview

About Spellman Care:

Spellman Care was founded on a deep-rooted family commitment, starting in 1990 when the Spellman's opened the doors to Steeton Court Nursing Home. Their joint endeavour laid the foundation for the person-centred philosophy that defines our service today, creating a legacy of friendly, high-quality care that has successfully served the community for 35 years.

At the heart of Spellman Care is a culture built on strong, established values. In 2022, the Spellman Care community—including our residents, relatives, and staff—came together to vote on three core values that truly represent everything we stand for. Our dedicated teams strive to provide truly person-centred care, meaning every element of support is designed specifically around the unique needs and preferences of each resident, and is guided by these shared values. We believe that living in one of our Homes should be synonymous with enjoying life to the fullest. Driven by our long-standing family ethos, we ensure a genuine home-from-home atmosphere, welcoming every resident into our community with kindness, dignity, and compassion. We are truly honoured to be entrusted with their care.

About Ghyll Royd Care Home:

Acquired by Tony Spellman in 2001, Ghyll Royd became the second home to be operated by the Spellman family, carrying forward our dedication to creating a truly welcoming environment.

Situated in the desirable semi-rural area of Guiseley, the Home is celebrated for its ideal balance of convenient location and peaceful surroundings.

The Home is well-situated near local shopping centres and the excellent transport links of Guiseley Station, making it a preferred option for residents from Guiseley, Yeadon, Rawdon, Horsforth, Ilkley, and the wider Leeds area.

Ghyll Royd benefits from exceptional natural access, being close to the stunning beauty of Nunroyd Park and Esholt Woods. The grounds themselves are surrounded by trees and woodland, where you can regularly spot squirrels running across the lawn, along with the occasional deer—contributing to the Home’s calm and tranquil atmosphere.

In 2023, Ghyll Royd marked a pioneering achievement by becoming the first Spellman Care home to offer both residential and nursing care under one roof with the launch of the Blossom Residential Dementia Community. This development allows us to provide truly flexible, person-centred care as residents’ needs change.

To ensure seamless continuity for our residents, the Dementia Residential Community and Dementia Nursing Community are ideally situated directly above and below one another. They offer residents an identical environment on both floors, meaning someone with dementia can rest assured that if their needs develop, they can stay settled in a familiar setting when moving from Dementia Residential to Dementia Nursing care.
