About Us
Small enough to know you. Experienced enough to care for you.
Farway Grange has been a family-run home in Bournemouth since 1986 and is still in the hands of the same family, now the next generation. We look after 35 residents across two neighbouring houses on Howard Road, 12 in our residential home and 23 in our nursing home. We are small enough that everyone who works here knows every resident by name, their routines, the things they would rather not do, and the small preferences that matter to them day to day.
Many of our team have been here a long time. Half have been with us for over three years and our longest-serving member of staff first joined in 1999. Families often tell us how much that continuity matters, particularly once a relative is no longer able to explain for themselves what they need. There is a registered nurse at the nursing site at all times, day and night.
Residents carry on having a life outside the home. There are regular outings to local cafés, the beach and the bowling alley, along with visiting services and activities here including chair yoga, pet therapy and chiropody. The garden tends to be where everyone gathers when the weather allows, with its koi pond and the chalet we use for activities.
All our meals are cooked here each day and residents choose what they would like on the day. If nothing on the menu appeals, the kitchen will make something else.
We would not describe Farway Grange as a luxury, hotel-style home, and it is not what we have set out to be. What we offer is something more personal. There are no set visiting hours, and families are welcome to be as involved as they would like to be. If you would like to look round, please call or simply come and see us.
