About Us
The Close Care Home is part of Eleanor Healthcare Group, an independent UK healthcare provider established in 1979. Eleanor delivers a wide range of health and social care services, including nursing and residential care homes, home care, live-in care, supported living, day centres, extra care, hospital logistics, Prison social Care and patient transport services.
Located in Oxfordshire, The Close provides residential and nursing care in a peaceful setting designed to support comfort, independence and quality of life. The home welcomes adults with a range of care needs, including people who require ongoing nursing support, dementia care or assistance with everyday activities.
Care at The Close is planned around the individual. The team takes time to understand each resident’s health needs, communication, routines, interests, relationships and personal preferences. This information is used to develop a care plan that reflects what matters to the person as well as the support they require. Plans are reviewed and adapted as needs change, with residents, families and relevant healthcare professionals involved where appropriate.
The home provides specialist support for people living with dementia. Its whole-home approach focuses on recognising each person’s identity, maintaining familiar routines and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement. The Close has achieved Gold Level accreditation through the National Dementia Care Accreditation Scheme in recognition of its dementia care, resident engagement and approach to wellbeing.
Residents are supported by nursing, care, activities, catering and hospitality teams who work together to meet physical, emotional and social needs. Staff can assist with personal care, medication, mobility, nutrition, health monitoring and communication, while encouraging residents to retain choice and independence wherever possible.
The Close offers a range of shared spaces where residents can relax, meet others or spend time with relatives and friends. These include comfortable lounges, a bistro, private dining areas, a cinema and outdoor spaces. The home’s landscaped gardens extend towards the river and provide opportunities for walks, gardening, outdoor games, quiet reflection and seasonal events.
Fresh meals are prepared within the home, with residents’ preferences, cultural choices, dietary requirements and nutritional needs taken into account. The bistro also provides a welcoming place where residents can enjoy food and refreshments with visitors.
A varied programme of group and individual activities is available. Depending on residents’ choices and abilities, this may include music, exercise, arts and crafts, baking, gardening, quizzes, films, sensory sessions, manicures, religious services, trips and one-to-one room visits. Activities are adjusted so residents can participate in ways that are meaningful and comfortable for them.
Family relationships remain an important part of life at The Close. Relatives and friends are welcomed, and the team maintains regular communication to help families feel informed and involved. Individual support can also be arranged to help residents attend significant family occasions or continue activities that are important to them.
The Close aims to provide a respectful and inclusive home where residents feel safe, understood and valued. Its approach combines professional nursing and personal care with opportunities for companionship, meaningful activity and connection with family and the wider community.
